meets the Village Road. It is about a fifteen minute walk to either end of the Village. Prices are always given in Belizian

On May 18th, 2001 the Garifuna Language, Dance and Music
was proclaimed a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible
Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO (United Nations Educational,
Cultural and Scientific Organization).
Hopkins is a center of Garifuna cultural life, and only in Hopkins
are young children still learning Garifuna as their first language.

One of the ways that Garifuna culture is expressed is in drumming performances,
where drummers, singers, instrumentalists, dancers all come together to lead the
community at special times or special events. Some of the Garifuna songs are
centuries old. This site lists the drumming performances first, then the rooms and
